Week 27 -- Week 18 from Sao Gabriel

Woo hoo to me for getting this posted in a timely manner! Aren't you proud of me? I jest. Here is Zack's email, received yesterday, entitled "McDonalds, Here I Come!":

Well, this week is transfers and as the title suggests, I will go to where there is McDonalds - or Santa Maria!

My new area is Santa Maria Centro (Center), and my new companion's name is Elder Botelho. I do not know anything about him, but he doesn't have that much time on the mission either and we will be joint seniors. My area encompasses the area of the mission office and is joint with the secretaries of the mission. There are two secretaries, the executive and the financial (Elder Christensen). Right now a third is being trained as the new executive. So, my area will have 5 missionaries and our numbers will be joined together. Our goal, and the reason for so many missionaries, is to create the Branch here into a Ward. Normally we would live in the same house as the secretaries, but because there are 3, there is not enough room in the house. So, I will be living with the assistants to the President (which is the nicest house in the mission!) for at least one transfer. I will also have the oppurtunity to see President and Sister Myrrha at least once a week, which will be cool.

So, farewell to São Gabriel. I will miss it and I kind of wish I could stay one more transfer here. This transfer was very fun, but very difficult. I am an athlete, so I like to see results from hard work - but it was not so here. I am going to miss the people and I am mad because I feel like I did not really do anything here but walk a lot. But, I will leave a few good investigators and hopefully I left some seeds that will one day be the fruits. All that we can do is our part, and the Lord will do the rest. This was my first Brasilian home and I had good times.

Yeah, so, I'm off to Santa Maria tomorrow morning. I can get my mail whenever I want-- which is cool. Thank you for everything, and especially happy birthday to Liv!

Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
