Hello family and friends. We received a wonderful email from Zack today--and he has had his first baptism. He is completely and totally excited about the work in Brasil. Here is an excerpt from his email:
"Okay, well, I had my first baptism on Saturday. He is a kid named Christian with less-active parents, but I am hoping that his baptism will help them come to Church again. He is a really smart kid and had a big desire to be baptized. The service was good. I had to give my first Português talk about the importance of faith and repentance. It was great because my companion told me 5 minutes before it began, and I was the first thing! Oh well, they understood the faith and repentance... hopefully."
And especially for Margaret-lee (thank you!):
My companion, Elder W. Ferreira, dies this week (meaning he is going home), so I am kind of sad. He is the man. I am slightly nervous about my new companion . . . . Tuesday was Zone Conference in Alegrete, which is about a 2 hour drive from São Gabriel. [A zone is a limited number of missionaries that live in a specific geographic area of the Mission. Most missions have several "zones".] It was great to meet all the missionaries in my Zone and see President and Sister Myrrha again. I prayed, played piano, was asked to bear my testimony, and was pointed out to sing solos of all four parts of two Christmas songs to show everyone how to sing it correctly--I don't like being a center of attention...
I want to thank everyone for the letters. I think that I received two from Sister Hammer and probably 6 from Sister Tryon. Thank you so much for remembering me. It is so great to hear about the Ward and about the new baptism and everything...
I love you all very much. Thank you for your love and support; this work is so important - and more than that, it is true. My prayers are with you always...
Com Amor,
Elder Burnham"
Thank you for your continued love and support of this young man. We truly appreciate each and everyone of you.
Until next week . . .
