Week 15 -- Week 6 from Sao Gabriel

Every six weeks are "transfers" in the mission field. During transfers, missionaries are often reassigned to new areas within the mission and/or receive a new companion. Zackary is remaining in Sao Gabriel, but his companion has changed because his first companion has completed his service and is heading home [his 'badge taken' -- all missionaries wear a badge/nametag identifying them and the Church]. For most missionaries, heading home is welcomed, but not always wanted.

Here is Zack's email, which was very short, as well as late in arriving:

"Well, I am writing from Santa Maria. This week is transfers. My companion is lying on his deathbed and will soon have his badge taken.

The week was . . . [m]ostly preparing to leave and saying goodbyes. It has been great to be in the city again and to see/meet the other missionaries. It is so much fun to be with a big group. My new companion will be Elder Abreu, who I don't know much about except for he is very, very smart, talks very proper Português, and is very polite. This transfer should be interesting, but I am excited. I will be staying in the same area of São Gabriel.

To answer your questions, Mom: My last companion was the man and I will miss him. He reminded me of Brian (partially because they are almost the same age, but also really funny).

My investigator pool hoovers right now but we have a lot of [referrals] because we taught the Word of Wisdom in a school and the kids all put down their adresses and stuff , so hopefully it will be good.

I love you all very much and I am so thankful for everything you do. This gospel is very, very true - more than I could really ever put into words. Happy Thanksgiving."

Until next week . . .
