Changes . . .

Elder Burnham's latest email, October 12, 2009:

Today was transfers and after much time (6 months to be exact) I am being transfered. I was called early Sunday morning by President Myrrha and tranferred to Livramento which is right on the border of Brasil - Uruguay. The name of my companion is Elder Silva from Minas Gerais. He was here in Cruz Alta when I arrived and he is the man. He is really, really good at soccer, too! I am super excited. I wanted more than anything else to go to Livramento, the true land of the gaúchos. There is a lot of Spanish there so I can touch up on my Spanish, too (I have a triple combination in Spanish, by the way). It is going to be awesome! The work is a little bit harder there, or so I hear. But challenge make success all the better...

This last week in Cruz Alta was... different. Many strange experieces and a lot of laughing with Elder Tebatini. I baptized a girl named Málika on Tuesday--a girl that the Sisters here were teaching and that was really cool. Then on Saturday I had to go to Panambi to interview a baptismal candidate and coming back we missed the bus and had to wait another 3 hours to get the next one. Then we got here in Cruz Alta and were waiting for the bus that didn't stop and we had to walk another hour back home. That was a tiresome day. Today is a holiday the "Day of the Children". We just were at a cool party in the chapel for the kids when I had to say goodbye to many people from here. It was hard to say goodbye to the people I baptized here like Marcelo, Vinícius and Fabiane, but the work continues, né?

Con Amor,
Elder Burnham
