So sorry that this is out of order. This is Zack's email from April 10, 2010 . . .
How wonderful was conference! Man, I love it so much and it is so sad when it ends, but how we were so spiritually fed this conference. I loved how they all seemed to talk about the family in one way or another. This conference was one of much learning for me and answered so many of the questions that I had. Elder Holland once again gave such a powerful talk, and it was so interesting that EVERYTHING he said in his talk has been going on in my mind and covers the pages of my journal for the last couple of months. I almost thought that he had stolen my journal. But, man, that was a powerful talk. He burns, but with so much love. I will say, though, that my favorite talk of this conference was by President Packer about the Priesthood.
This week was a fast one. It seems as though it has already been a long time since conference. We had the LZ Council this week and it was wonderful. Elder Reis and I gave a training about synergy, and how to work together in the zones and in the mission. It was really cool how we took 1 Cor. 12:14-31 which talks about the body parts and changed it to the various positions within the mission. In the end, we did an activity where everyone sits on a chair and then lays back on to the lap of one another in a square, then President and Sister pulled out all of the chairs and we all had to support one another - 16 missionaries. It worked and was cool. Now, we just need real synergy to spread about the mission. We are in a strange time here, were things are not really happening as they should and we have been working hard to try and solve these problems. Let's wait and see.
My area is doing well. We have those 4 baptisms still marked for this week of Anderson, Daniela, Brenda and Iara. We also have had some success in finding some really awesome (and legally married!!!) families lately, which is awesome. So, we are all pretty happy, though I'll be all the happier when these baptisms happen. It seems as though everything is working against us so that this family does not enter into the Church. We also have one other family of Ledi, Claudia and Felipe (three generations) who go to church every week, love it all and have received responses to their prayers about the Book of Mormon and everything, but they just won't accept a date. Pray for them that we may be able to baptize them this month.
Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
