End of the Road . . .

Excerpt from Zack's email, March 27, 2010:

Today, I write you all from a city called Santiago. I am here because it is a city that Elder Bryson passed early on in his mission and he wanted to visit it before he went home. I will probably do the same in São Gabriel when I, too, reach the end of the road.

This week was interesting. We were busy doing divisions in many places inside of Santa Maria to try and help the zones there which have been struggling the most lately. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I was with a companionship of E. Lee and E. Brooksby. It was really fun to be out there with two Americans. E. Lee has a little more time than I and E. Brooksby has about 6 months.

While I was there we had a pretty cool experience as we walked down the street talking in English and this 25 year-old guy came up and started walking and talking with us. He asked us if we were Mormons and about English. We began to explain about the Church. He was so interested that I doubted that maybe it was a member just messing with us; but, as we talked I could see that he was just a normal dude. He asked about baptism and he said that he was baptized in the Catholic church but that he thought that his baptism wasn't valid and asked if he could go to church and be baptized on Sunday. I just looked at E. Brooksby like "WHAT!?" It was crazy. He said he would go to the activity that Friday. The bus leaves in 6 minutes. Sorry, gotta run.

Love you all...Elder Burnham
