"So, on the days when it is not raining there is a group of "lamanites," as they are called by us, who come out, play music and dance in Indian clothing. It is really cool.
This week was another week of work and more work. With only the secretaries here before us, we basically had to open this area because there was basically no one to teach. So, we only knock doors here all day so that we can mark enough appointments for the two companionships to visit and teach at night when we divide. The whole style is very strange - and our numbers were not great the first two weeks, regardless of how hard we actually work. So, we had to go crazy this week with the work to improve things here. The week was hard and tiring, but at the end of the week we finally saw the results and had a very good week.
Elder Wageman, the old executive secretary, who was training the new one, Elder Arruda, was transferred to fill in a spot of a missionary who went home. He was really cool, hilarious and a good missionary. It is different without him in the house, but at least the house is bigger now, haha.
Yesterday, church was fantastic. We had a few investigators there for fast and testimony meeting. The meeting was incredibly good and even one of the daughters of one of our investigators bore her testimony of the Church. It was awesome. I taught the Gospel Principles class after for less-active, recent-converts and non-members. It actually went really well. This week was a huge point for me in the language. As I taught the lesson, I realized that I was no longer thinking in English; I was just speaking and thinking normally and then the same thing that night at Sérgio's house. It was really cool.
At Sérgio's house that night, we watched the film "Small and Simple Things," and the Spirit was so strong. My companion explained a little and then I bore testimony and committed Sèrgio to be baptized this Saturday. It will truly be very special and hopefully his son, Gustavo, will see the change in his family and receive his own response. I am very excited. It ended up being a very good week."
Thank you all for your love and support.
