Stress, Secretaries, and Sérgio - that is the resume of the week. Thanks so much for the package and the pictures, Mom. Socks are always welcome and cinnamon toast crunch was such a delight too see. The picture turned out great. Man, I cannot even believe how skinny I have become here on the mission. All the 15 pounds I gained (all muscle) before the mission is completely gone (all muscle) and I am just a small, weak kid again, haha.
This week was different. The secretaries had a lot to do and it seemed as though many things were going wrong and they were really stressed. Elder Favreau had appendicitis this week and so there was a fast emergency transfer. My companion, Elder Botelho, went to his area and will stay there this week, and I will be in the office all week. President told me that Elder Favreau, who was the old Financial Secretary, will be teaching me things about the tasks of the secretaries so that I can help more here than just filling out the paperwork. So, we did not have the oppurtunity to teach very much this week and next week will be worse without a companionship in the field during the day.
But, at least this week we had the baptism of Sérgio! It was incredible. President Myrrha attended and the meeting was very good. Sérgio's wife spoke in public for the first time and it was just so good. We sang a cool version of "I Need Thee Every Hour", and . . . it was just good. He will be a leader in the Church. On Sunday the Spirit was so strong as he was confirmed and his wife was so happy. We sang, too, in Sacrament meeting--"Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy". So, as far as the physical side goes, this week was tough; but on the spiritual side, it was one of the best of my mission.
Mom, it is great being around President. He is so powerful--he is funny and very kind, but with the presence of a giant. The best comparison of a man you know would be Ryan Litchfield.
We have some other investigators that are very good - but one in particular that I would ask your prays for--his name is Edmilson--he is searching for a true response.
Thank you. I love you all very much.
Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
