Week 38 (Santa Maria)

Zack thought he would be transferred to another area this week, but he is to remain in Santa Maria City Center for a bit longer it appears! Here is an excerpt from his email, received April 27, 2009:

Well, this week was another transfer; and I'll have another one here in the center of Santa Maria. I will probably stay two more here, helping out in the office. I am happy because I like the area, but I was looking forward to a new area and new experiences. I guess I'll just have to find them here.

This week was a very special week for me. We had the baptism of our investigator Mari. She was investigating for about 6 months and finally took the decision to be baptized. It is so great because it will bless so much the life of her daughter, who turns 5 today. Her husband, Assis, had to travel on business for a month, but he will also be baptized soon after his return. The baptism was so great. We had many investigators there to watch and many of the members came out to participate and support. We sang a cool version of "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief" ("Um Pobre e Aflito Viajor") and the Spirit was so strong. She was so happy after the baptism - she was glowing. Truly, that is the reason I am here. It was a long stuggle against cigarettes, but we beat it. It was great. We have many people here who are prepared to be baptized and our work here is ever-increasing. So, for that, I am glad to stay here a little longer.
