I am behind in my posting--so sorry! Elder Burnham's email came on Tuesday rather than the usual Monday. He explains below in his email entitled "Merry Christmas".
Sorry for the belated email. Yesterday was the Christmas P-day, and we all went to Santa Maria for the day. We played soccer, volleyball, football (YES!!! that was good), ate really good food, had a waterballoon fight and then a devotional. It was great to see my old district from the MTC, especially to talk with Elder McGruder again. It was a lot of fun.
So, this past week was great. I had a surprise division with the Zone Leaders last week, so I spent three days in the city of Alegrete. (Editorial Note: A "division", or sometimes referred to as "splits", is when two missionary companionships split, swapping companions for a limited amount of time.) I don't know why because I am nothing and my companion is not the district leader, but it was really good. I learned a lot from my zone leader, Elder Stoker, and while in Alegrete we found two really special families. Sad that I don't get to see them progress and maybe be baptized.
Anyway, I returned on Friday to our Ward Christmas party, which was great. We had some investigators there and my district leader, Elder Hepworth, played Santa Claus. He came to the party on a fire truck and we had fireworks - it was sweet. Saturday was the baptism of Vitória, and it was great; and, we found out that day that her dad's mom had just died and he is now reading the Book of Mormon. We are going to teach him the Plan of Salvation on Friday. We also set a baptismal date for January 3rd with another investigator named Geneci and are working with her husband and son as well. All in all, this week was fantastic, and we also set a record for most lessons taught with members in our Area since President Myrrha became President.
I received packages from the following: the Calverts, the Rutters, Kirstin, Mom (only 1), and one from Dad last week. Thank you all so very much. I am excited to open them on Christmas morning. Thank you all for everything and Merry Christmas! I am excited to talk to you all!
Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
