Halloween

Elder Burnham's email arrived today, rather than yesterday. I was so sad to not see one in my inbox all day yesterday, but thrilled early this morning when I went online!

Guess where I am writing you from? Uruguai, haha!!!

So, yesterday was the Day of the Dead here in Brasil and all of the missionaries here in Livramento went to the giant cemetary and did contacts with the people about the Plan of Salvation. Afterwards we went to Uruguai to eat lunch and drink natural juice (that makes more sense in Portuguese, I think). I was talking to some of the Elders and one made a comment about Halloween and I was like, "What? Halloween? I COMPLETELY FORGOT!" Haha, I forgot about Halloween. It came and went and . . . nothing. To answer your question, Lin, there are parties and stuff on Halloween but just because of the holiday in the states and the propaganda from the states - but it really doesn´t exist down here.

But anyway, this last week was great but very, very hot. It got up over 105 and it is only spring! This summer is going to be very hot. My nose and ears are super red; my arms are getting brown and my neck is bronze -- I look like a clown, haha.

On Tuesday, the assistants (Assistants are the Elders [2] called to assist the Mission President, President Myrrha) came to do a division with me and Elder Silva and it was great. They are both really cool guys and great missionaries. I was able to learn a lot from them. We joked and ate pizza and walked around in Uruguai (they had never been!). It was a great 3 days. Elder Silva and I finished the week with the best numbers of my entire mission. The best part is that we found 38 new investigators and now our investigator pool is big and ready for this month. We set really high goals as a companionship and also for our zone because this month of November is THE month for our mission. I am excited by the possibilities. On Sunday we had the confirmations of Sonia, Jenifer, Luana and Junior; and, we also marked two more dates for this Saturday of Sonia´s other daughter, Andreia, and another girl named Viviane. I am enjoying this area so much. It is a good thing because I will probably stay here 6 months, haha...

Thank you for everything. The emails and the letters are always so great! The church is true!

Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
