One More Transfer . . .

Elder Burnham, Monday, November 23, 2009:

I feel as though it was last P-Day that I was telling you that I was being transfered to Livramento and already we have another transfer. Time absolutely flies out here. [Editor's note: A "transfer" is a six week period, usually.] I wish it would just slow down.

So, Elder Silva will be leaving and I got really sad when I found out about that. I thought that I would stay with him until the end of his mission in early January, but the Lord had some other ideas. My new companion is Elder Zequini who I knew in Cruz Alta and is the man and hilarious.

As for the week, it was really slow because Elder Silva was saying bye to the people, and we had a division and activities and all that stuff. We had a date marked of Andreia for last Saturday, but she is having some problems with the commandments; so, I ask you to put her in your prays that she will be able to stop. She is the daughter of Sonia, who we baptized a few weeks ago, and her situation is difficult because of her friends and the poor area in which she lives. She is good, though, and has not missed church in 4 weeks, so she is still progressing and excited for the baptism. I was in division all this week with Elder Wiscomb, who has only 1 transfer on the mission, and it was awesome. He is a really good guy and will be a great missionary. It is strange to be with a guy who just got here and to try to remember how it was at the beginning.

Oh, and one more cool thing. So, last Sunday Sister Raphaela from my district in Cruz Alta called me. To make a long story short, I wrote a brief article about the missionaries in the newspaper in Cruz Alta, haha. She was asked to do it but didn't have time, and so I wrote it. An American writing in the Brazilian newspaper, oh yeah. Hopefully it comes out; I'll be sure to send it home so you can see it!

Con amor,
Elder Burnham
