Elder Burnham, December 22, 2009:
First off, I want to thank Grandma and the Adams for the Christmas presents. You are so wonerful in your support of me and this work!
Sorry for the late email. Yesterday, we had a P-day (Preparation day) of the mission in Alegrete. It was actually just half of the mission, but it was still very much fun and great to see and talk with President. He and Sister Myrrha are so wonderful, truly like a second pair of parents. There was a big lunch and a Christmas presentation with football, frisbee and volleyball after.
This last week was a little bit slow because my companion got sick. Actually, I did a division from Tuesday to Thursday with Elder Teixeira, in his area. It was super fun and he is a great Elder. Then Thursday night we watched the Christmas devotional which is always wonderful. I love to hear the apostles talk and especially hear them bear testimony. The music also was wonderful. I love the song "O Holy Night," especially that part when the song changes a little and says, "Come unto Him." When I heard that I could not hold back the tears. Music is so powerful and such a great way to share the gospel during Christmas time.
I hope that you all do something for your neighbors and friends this Christmas. On Friday it was back to work with Elder Zequini in my own area, which doesn't even seem to be mine because I am never there, but he ended up getting really sick and vomiting so our week was difficult. Luckily, it was just something he ate and all is now well.
For Christmas, I will be waiting at 5:30PM my time. You start with the operator then 55(the country code for Brasil) +55(the area code for the south). I am so excited to talk with you all! We have 1 hour this year, lucky you Mom!
Com Amor,
Elder Burnham
