The traditional Christmas Eve picture . . .
We had a wonderful Christmas here in Seattle with Kirstin, Luke, EmJ, Willie, Gus, and Sam joining us on Christmas Eve and staying the night! It was very thoughtful of them to be here to "make it a 'normal' Christmas for Alivia". We missed having Lindsey, Brian, Coleson and Amelia with us, as well as Elder Burnham, but it was still a great day.
We had the opportunity to speak with Elder Burnham on Christmas Day. He is doing so very well and wishes to stay longer than his two year commitment. He sounds wonderful and is having a very positive experience. He has grown to love the Brasilian people--their country, their culture, their cuisine.
I was saddened when our phone call was cut short by three minutes. I spent an hour trying to reconnect, but it was all in vain. I could not complain, however, because a young missionary from Idaho, Elder Belnap, did not receive his call at all. His parents, to whom we spoke, could not get through. On Saturday, we learned that everything went dead in their area of Brasil. We were overjoyed to receive a call from Elder Burnham on Saturday, December 26th. We spoke for only three minutes, but it gave us an opportunity to tell him how much we love him and how delighted we are in his service.
